About the Artist

Helmie Stil is an award winning filmmaker, specialised in poetry films. She is one of the directors of the Dutch Poetryfilm Festival and director of poertycinema – films inspired by poetry.Her films have been shown on national television and international film festivals. Helmie was awarded with the audience prize at the Weimar Poetry Filmfestival, won the Cadence Video Poetry Award and she was selected for the prestigious Outspoken Poetry Prize London.

Sjaan Flikweert is an interdisciplinary performing artist. She creates spoken word poetry, music, dance, theatre, and film. For her, stories hold the magical power to connect people and to imagine something new or different. They guide us across the boundaries of our own limitations.

She has been an active performing artist for over fourteen years, both in the Netherlands and abroad. Her work has appeared in the anthology HARD OP and has been published in Tirade. She has been with Poetry Circle since 2010 building on Spoken word as a performance art and has worked with, among others, AYA, de Gasten, Bühnenbiest, Rover company, Silbersee, Nanoek, and Dox.
